Hello everyone,
I had plans on starting the new year with as many posts as possible to get myself into the groove of things after so long of doing them sporadically. But as I found my new favourite author - Katherine Center - on the last day of the year, I found myself unable to do anything but lose myself in her books. Today, I finished my third novel by her, called Everyone is Beautiful, and now I'm waiting for the Happiness for Beginners to arrive in the mail. I ordered it yesterday after finding out that her upcoming novel - What You Wish for - will be somewhat of a follow-up to it. I swear, she has now become my auto-buy author and I will read absolutely anything by her. Her books are just absolutely amazing. My favourite so far is How to Walk Away. But I digress. This post is about the books that I bought during the week after Christmas when strolling through my city. I found some absolute treasures and so I thought it would be nice to share my finds with you. The first book I reached for was actually the leatherbound edition of seven novels by Jane Austen. I already own a copy of a different version, which is why I'd been resisting to this one since it came out in 2016, but I finally gave in and bought it. And I have no regrets as it makes me happy every time I set my eyes upon it. Then I also bought Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Other Stories by Lewis Carroll. I wanted it for years, and now when they upgrated the cover just like with the Jane Austen book, I was affraid that this original one would soon be lost for ever and decided to take my chance while there still was one. The last leatherbound book I bought was The Blue Fairy Book as I can rarely resist to any children's book. I then found a beautiful copy of Classical Mythology that I couldn't really pass by as I've been meaning to read more mythology for years. When I found the newest book by Sarah Dessen - The Rest of the Story - I simply couldn't believe my luck. They never have Sarah Dessen's books in my city, which is so sad, for she is one of my all time favourite authors. Finding her book on the shelf just made my day and I can't wait to read it. The last purchase I made was of the complete trillogy of Arc of Scythe by Neal Shusterman. I've recently read his book Everlost and found it fascinating, so I'm really excited to read more of his work...
