Contemporary-a-Thon (updated post)

Good morning dear readers,
so the Contemporaryathon has finally started and I am ready to do some reading. This month, I've only read two books so far (they were really amazing, though), so I could definitely do with some catching up time. You can see my TBR pile for this week here. But there is a high chance of me including some other books, too. I'm having some issues with my eyes, so in case I don't feel like reading physically, I have an audiobook in my phone at ready. It's called The Kiss Thief by L. J. Shen, and it was trending during the last Contemporaryathon back in Fabruary. I actually bought it back then but never listened to it. I am also in a mood to read some graphic novel, but I don't really have any that would classify as contemporary. So here's to hoping I'll have time to pop into some bookshop during the week and find something there. They don't have a great selection of English books in my city, but they do good with new releases. And there are some popular graphic novels coming out this month, so yeah - fingers crossed. Anyway, I've just finished my morning coffee and am ready to start with my reading. For more updates, you can follow me on instagram as well. I wish you all a happy reading week...

Day One

8:00 - I've made myself a big cup of tea, lit an autumn candle and now, I'm sitting down with my first book of this readathon - Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston. I'm ready to be swept away by its cuteness - if the cover says anything...

10:10 - I've made it to page 75, and it's starting to be super cute. But I've realized that in my excitement I forgot to have a breakfast in the morning. So I'm going to quickly eat something while watching YouTube, and I'll be back soon...

14:14 -  Currently on the page 146. Man, this book is really surprising. I cannot wait to see how the story is going to unfold. But now, I need to make myself another tea. I have a minor flu, so I need to keep hydrated...

18:18 - I swear, I'm not trying to write my updates at these times. It always just so happens that I sit down to my computer at the exact same numbers for the hours and the minutes. Anyway, since the last time I've updated you on my reading progress, I did some exercising, drank two more teas and a coffee, ate some granola with yogurt, I also did my laundry (okay, that might be too much information), but most importantly, I fell in love with the book. I'm rooting for Alex and Henry from the bottom of my heart. They are so cute, it actually hurts. So I'm going to give myself a little bit of a break from them now (so as not to droen myself in the emotions) and read this new comic book Teen Titans: Raven by Kami Garcia and illustrated by Gabriel Picolo. It's fantasy but it's set in a contemporary world, so I hope it counts. I just really am in a mood to read a graphic novel, so I decided to go for it to keep my reading fun...

21:10 - Just came back to my room after an impromptu evening snack. My brother made fried mushrooms and they were so delicious, I couldn't pass them up. In regards of reading, I finished the comics and really liked it. The art was amazing, I reveled in the dark atmosphere and enjoyed the story. But it was super short; I would've loved it even more had I had a chance to spend more time with the characters. I'm glad I read it, though, and would recommend it. Now I'm going back to Red, White & Royal Blue. I made myself some night time tea to relax while reading, so I don't know how long I'll last. But I need to read at least a couple of chapters before sleep. I'm sure Alex and Henry will give me sweet dreams...

Day Two

7:34 - In the end, I didn't read much more before falling to sleep yesterday. I was planning on catching up in the morning, even woke up really early for it, but instead of reading spent my morning drinking coffee and looking through instagram photos for the Contemporaryathon. But now I'm seriously going to read...

15:08 - So the reading goes very slowly today. It's just one of those days when there's so much stuff to do and whenever I sit down to read, something else that I need to pay attention to presents itself. But I'm still loving the book. Every page the story's getting more and more heated, and I am super nervous for where it's going to go next...

Day Three

My computer wasn't working on this day. But I was out and about all day, so I probably wouldn't have a chance to update you anyway. I did some reading in the evening though. I read a lovely little book, called Almost Midnight by Rainbow Rowell, which contains two festive novellas. And I alsolutely adored it. It was funny, cute and romantic. Just what I needed after a long day. I then also continued reading Red, White & Royal Blue and nearly finished it. So over all it was a good reading day...

Day Four

My computer still hadn't been woking on this day, but at least I wasn't distracted by the internet and could concentrate on my reading. I finished Red, White & Royal Blue in the morning and it made me really happy. I would highly recommend you to read it, if you haven't already. And then, I picked up my fourth book of this readathon - In Paris With You by Clémentine Beauvais and translated by Sam Taylor. During the day, I've read half of it, and was completely mesmerized by the story. I am not going to get into detail in here, for I would love to write a review for the book after the Contemporaryathon. But I can confidently tell you right now that it's definitely gonna be on my list of the best reads of this year...

Day Five
During this day I had a lot of work to do, but I finished my four book In Paris With You, and it was everything. I loved it so much. I mean, I have to write a review now. I have a lot to say about it. It's such an underrated book. I hadn't heard about it anywhere before I picked it up for myself. But it's truly a wonderful story worth a read, so I hope it'll get the attention it deserves as the time goes on. I truly regret that I can't speak french, for I would love to read every single one of Clémentine Bauvais books, but except this one none of themwere translated as of right now. Ah, what a shame!

Day Six
I've started my fifth and final book of this readathon - All the Bad Apples by Moïra Fowley-Doyle, but haven't done a big dent into it. I kind of needed a little bit of a break from reading, so I watched a movie called One Last Night about two people falling for each other in a theater. It was super fun, quirky and sweet...

Day Seven
So the last day of the readathon came and went super quickly, but I've managed to read a little bit more from All the Bad Apples. I'm about half a way through, and am really enjoying it so far. It's very atmospheric and chilly read - perfect for this time of year. I found myself looking forward to getting back into the book whenever I'm cooking lunch, baking cookies or doing some cleaning. I probably won't be able to finish it before going to sleep, but that's okay, there's still tomorrow, right? Thank you for spending this round of Contemporary with me, it's always super fun and inspiring to make our reading experiance something to bond over with. I can't wait for the next opportinity to read along with you...
